The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission’s science and knowledge service, providing independent scientific advice and support to EU policy. The current vacancy is with the Unit Ocean and Water of the Directorate for Sustainable Resources.
The position is linked to the economic analysis of marine living resources, i.e. the fishing and aquaculture sectors under the remit of scientific advice provision to the Common Fishery Policy (CFP).
The ideal candidate should have the following essential requirements:
- At least three years of relevant experience in economic analysis or economic modelling are essential, preferably in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.
- A strong record of socio-economic analysis.
- A good knowledge of English (B2).
The following is considered an advantage:
- a PhD in economics or a related field, or at least 5 years of full-time relevant research experience after the first University degree, giving direct access to doctoral (PhD) studies.
- Proven experience in econometrics and bio-economic analytical approaches.
- Preferential requirements include experience in stakeholder engagement and policy advice, particularly in relation to the Common Fisheries Policy.
- Competence in writing reports and communication.
